Caribbean Transfers has become part of the "Saving Gibara" project, an initiative of the Cuban actor Jorge Perugorría, in order to raise funds for the reconstruction of the town of Gibara, on the north coast of Holguin, one of the most affected places by the Hurricane Ike in Cuba.

If you wish to contribute to the reconstruction of this beautiful site of the Latin American and Cuban culture, you can do it by:
- Donating an amount of money in USD, through this site
- Buying a work of art, which have been donated by Cuban artists for this purpose.

Gibara is a renowned Cuban cultural center, home of the Poor Film Festival, held every April since 2003, an event founded by the late Cuban film director Humberto Solas. The Festival of Poor Cinema has succeeded in opening a new space for the cinematography of young independent filmmakers in Latin America and the world, and has turned the city of Gibara in one of the most loved by all filmmakers and artists from the region . A colorful and joyful event, framed in a beautiful and picturesque village on the seafront, where in addition to the film shows, painting exhibitions are held, in the parks concerts, plays and festivals.
